Trios Technology

The Trios™ IPL system is based on the principle of Selective Photothermolysis by which concentrated pulses of light target specific chromophores in the skin (i.e. light sensitive cells such as melanin and oxyhemoglobin). The absorption of light by the specific targeted chromophore induces a physiological or chemical change in the cell formation, ultimately achieving the desired clinical effect.

Hair Removal

The target chromophore for the hair removal application is melanin which is most sensitive to light in the 525-1064nm spectrum. Pulses of light transmitted from the Trios™’s light guide are absorbed by the melanin in the hair and transformed into heat. Thermal energy is simultaneously channeled towards the targeted area, gently raising the hair follicle temperature to coagulation point. The absorbed heat reaching the hair follicle impairs its ability to produce new hair. Maintaining the correct wave length and pulse duration is imperative for this focused activity which ensures the destruction of the hair follicle at its core without damaging surrounding tissue.

Skin Pigmentation and Vascular Lesions

Trios™ addresses these various symptoms by emitting concentrated flashes of light to target specific chromophores and cells (melanin, hemoglobin and fibroblast cells). Pulses of light ignite a micro-trauma in the dermal-epidermal junction, initiating a natural healing process working from the inside out.

Acne Clearance

The combination of hyperkeratanization and over production of sebum result in a buildup of oil in the hair follicle, creating a plug over the pore. The lack of oxygen stimulates Propionibacterium (P. Acne) activity, inducing an inflammation which breaks through the follicle walls and causes lesions on the skin surface, resulting in the appearance of acne. The light absorbed triggers Porphyrin activation and causes the release of a singlet oxygen molecule. The oxygenation of the clogged pore destroys the P.Acne, diminishes inflammation and slows the production of excess sebum, which means significantly fewer breakouts.
